Swindon pro boxer and maybe future welterweight champion of the world Jamie Cox has agreed to be a patron of the SMASH Youth Project. Pictured above are Jack Croce who has been training at the Swindon Boxing Academy for the last two years and Ken Cox who is a SMASH mentor and boxing enthusiast with Jamie, one week before his big fight against Ghana’s Stephen Okine on the 24th July. Sadly because the fight is on the same day as the Inspiring the Future conference Jamie won’t be able to attend but everyone at SMASH will be wishing him well.

Jamie who recons he’ll be fighting for the British title before the year is out says. “I am from the same kind of place as lots of the young people who are with SMASH but boxing gave me something to focus on and I would really like to be able to give something back.” Thanks Jamie. and on the subject of the world championship? “Well I’ve just got to concentrate on the next thing but yeah I’ll be the champ.” And we’ll be with him all the way.
