We URGENTLY need as many testimonials from mentees as possible. All we need is a few lines on what the project meant to them and how it helped. Please have a word with the young people you’re in touch with - either current or past mentees to help us gather these for Harriet Harman, deputy PM and send them through to smash.yproject@swindon.gov.uk ASAP!!!
A very busy week for all here at SMASH! Have you reserved your tickets for SMASH-Fest yet? Call Julie on 01793 879297. The event is one the front page of The Link!!!
For all the latest news on whats happening with the project, check our Facebook site (become a ‘fan’ of SMASH!) or for a more personal view of what’s happening, visit Toby’s blog… (His placement with SMASH draws to a close this week, so he’d like to thank all of you for your support and to thank all of the hardworking crew in the SMASH office for making his stay such a wonderful experience!)
In a flash-back to the Harriet Harman visit of a couple of weeks back, we received the following photo from one of Anne Snegrove MP’s Office Managers, Sarah Bush. It appears that Harriet delivered on her promise to get a photo of the plaster Sir Winston Churchill outside his spiritual home, The House of Commons… So here he is! (but where’s his ‘V for Victory??!)… It was really sweet of Sarah to have remembered and we’re all really chuffed – its put a smile on everyone’s face today.
Roll up, roll up, get ‘em whilst they’re hot from the printer / from Toby’s iron! A friend of the project has come up with a really cool design to help promote the event. Please feel free to print off and put in your window! In the meantime, I’m going to print off some t-shirts with this on them to sell at the gig. Numbers will be limited, so if you want to reserve one, give me your name and size request pronto!
;-)

Its with regret that we have to say goodbye to another SMASH stalwart, Lyn Davis. Everyone at SMASH would like to wish her all the very best for the future. (Stay in touch!)
Another update!
I can now confirm that the following bands have been added to the line-up:
Optimus Crime - http://uk.myspace.com/jointhecrimespree
and Party Scene - www.myspace.com/partyscene1
… we’re also at work on some natty SMASH-Fest T-Shirts - details to follow!
A big shout out to councillor Keith Williams who’s very kindly offered to nominate SMASH as his charity for his forthcoming cycle ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats!
A big shout our too to our local ward councillor Mary Martin – it seems that she’s managed to speak to all of the relevant parties, and our rent has been deferred for the time being (hurrah!)
Also, thanks too to Nationwide for their kind and very timely donation.
There’s another story about us in the Advertiser - please take a minute to register and write a line or two of support!!!
